Dr.Manasi Soni – Bridging the gap between information technology and information therapy
Why does information get lost in transit between patient and doctor? What role can information technology play to reduce this loss?
Increasing amounts of money and patient hours are being spent in the name of preventable ‘lifestyle’ diseases. If ‘bibliotherapy’ can ease the burden of sickness,how can technology aid in information dissemination?
Dr.Manasi Soni, a physiotherapist from Seth G S Medical College,Mumbai uses her experiences at KEM hospital to investigate into the lacunae of healthcare delivery and what can be done to fill them.
After interning at KEM hospital as well as a private clinic,she realized the gross differences in health care delivery.These experiences lead her to investigate the lacunae of the doctor-patient relationship and what can be done to fill them.
Apart from being passionate about her core field of study,she is actively conducting research in behavioural and health psychology.She is currently working on ‘Effect of Health and Nutrition on Cognitive and Behavioural Development in children in the first three years of life’ at IIT Bombay.
